In the last week or so I helped Connor in making the DCP's for Capture 14, this consists of exporting them from davinci as a Tiff, then converting those in open DCP to jpeg2000's then those into one XML file and the separate sound files into and XML file and finally those to together convert into the final DCP. I worked on the stings, the 8 second clips between the films and they took about half an hour to convert. Connor worked on the films themselves and must have taken hours.
I also decided to do the photography for the event. I wanted every crew and cast to get pictures in front of their posters, but we couldn't really get as nice poster steup for the backdrop and people didn't seem that bothered. I took a few photos of the event as it went on and hung around afterwards for people to get photos but I honestly didn't work too hard, I wanted to enjoy the night too.
And I did! Capture 14 was great. The films came out really nicely and the audience response was just what we were looking for. I think Paper Chase looked nicer than Flatline but am happy with them both. Getting the applause after the films was really gratifying and the night was a great end to the course.
